The Nutley High School boys' bowling team lost to Livingston, ranked number 3 in the state, on Tuesday Jan. 24 at Brunswick Zone in Belleville. The Raiders lost all three games but the team did show some improvement, said NHS head coach George Ackerman. "We were competitive in the first two games, but again, unfortunately, we missed crucial spares in the 9th and 10th frames and ended up losing by very close margins," Ackerman said. "In the third game the boys came to life and rolled one of their best sets all year. Three of our boys were over 200. The boys showed poise and confidence. Good teams need competition to become better teams. We grew as a team and hopefully can carry that momentum into the final week of the regular season."
On Friday afternoon Jan. 27, the Raiders rolled scores which will be posted against Christ the King’s scores. Christ the King could not make this match due to another commitment and will bowl Monday. "Both teams did well," Ackerman said. "Hopefully each team will add seven points to their records."
